CVU has Defeated SB94!

On September 16th, 2023 Senator Cortese (D-San Jose), pulled the bill prior to the vote due to lack of support amongst the voters and a strong pushback from Law Enforcement, District Attorneys, and Victim Advocacy Groups.

Governor Newsom just signed/vetoed a number of bills that Crime Victims United supports/opposes



He signed:

  • AB 56/Lackey---Compensation for victims’ emotional injuries.

  • AB 60/Bryan---Restorative justice program.

  • AB 461/Ramos---Student safety/Fentanyl test strips.

  • AB 701/Villapudua---Possible add’t time/fines for fentanyl-related crimes.

  • AB 1104/Bonta---Corrections and rehabilitation/sentencing.

  • SB 727/Limon---Clarification re: civil actions related to sex trafficking.

  • SB 749/Smallwood-Cuevas---Appears to allow Prop. 47 sentences to be appealed outside of the dates originally established by Prop. 47, and allows amendments by 2/3 votes of the Legislature.

 

He vetoed:

  • AB 304/Holden—-Probation/Domestic violence cases

  • SB 81/Skinner---Parole hearings.
