Harriet’s Bill Alert
Honoring a Legacy. Protecting Victims. Shaping the Future.
We are proud to announce Harriet’s Bill Alert, a new legislative awareness initiative created in honor of Crime Victims United founder Harriet Salarno — a trailblazing victims’ rights advocate who has spent decades changing the world, one piece of legislation at a time. Harriet has dedicated her life to ensuring victims and survivors have a voice in our criminal justice system and at the California State Capitol. Her advocacy has helped shape California’s victims’ rights movement and serves as a reminder that meaningful change often begins with one person willing to speak up.
Launched in the final month of the 2026 legislative session, Crime Victims United has partnered with the Placer County District Attorney’s (Em)Power + Resilience Project to identify key public safety and victims’ rights bills that deserve attention.
Harriet’s Bill Alert will help victims, survivors, advocates and community members:
>Identify important legislation moving through the Capitol
>Understand how proposed laws could impact victims, survivors and public safety
>Follow key votes and legislative developments
>Learn when and how to make their voices heard
With thousands of bills moving toward the finish line, staying informed matters. Harriet has spent decades showing us that one voice can change a law — and one law can change countless lives. Now, we are carrying that legacy forward.
Stay informed. Stay engaged. Make your voice count.
Follow Harriet’s Bill Alert throughout the final month of the legislative session for bills you need to know about. You can sign up for Harriet’s Bill Alert at www.crimevictimsunited/CSAN.
